Water, sanitation and hygiene
ACT4WASH
In remote villages, families can walk several kilometres for water and live without toilets. We build wells and toilet blocks where communities ask for them.
Groundwater wells
We have built wells in villages of Batticaloa district including Pavatkodichenai, Katpaha Keni and Ammanthanaveli Navatkulam. They stand in public spaces and residents use them every day, bringing safe water, better hygiene and less waterborne disease.
Toilet facilities
Some villages in Sri Lanka still have no toilets. At the request of residents, we built a block of two toilets, one for men and one for women, at Ammanthanaveli Navatkulam in the Vakarai area. It serves about 60 people from 22 families, including elderly people, women and children.
